Deidre Hall has been a daytime icon for decades, and it’s hard to imagine Days of Our Lives without her. After more than 45 years of playing Marlena Evans, Hall is still going strong, and from the sound of it, she has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
In a recent conversation with Woman’s World, Hall opened up about a few big topics fans have been buzzing about, including whether Marlena could find love again after John’s death and whether Hall herself has any plans to retire.
Deidre Hall on Retirement Plans
When the retirement question came up, Hall didn’t hesitate. “You’ll have to drag me out of there,” she said.
For her, the job isn’t just about the acting, it’s the people. She talked warmly about the entire team, from executive producer Ken Corday to the hair, makeup, and wardrobe crews. “He’s a family man, and it’s a family company,” she said. “It’s just the best way to work.”
Will Marlena Find Love Again?
As for Marlena’s future? Hall does believe love could be in the cards again. “I think Marlena will love again,” she said. But she wasn’t about to imagine what kind of man might be worthy of stepping into the story after John Black. “That’s up to casting, and our writers. They’re so good at this. They’re also smart enough to know that’s a big ask, to find somebody for Marlena.”
And she’s not wrong. “John and Marlena are iconic. Legendary! So there has to be magic. There has to be undeniable chemistry,” Hall added.
So whether Marlena eventually opens her heart again or not, one thing is clear: Deidre Hall isn’t going anywhere, and neither is her love for the show.
