Forget the headline: the rumors are true! The Young and the Restless star Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) is headed to Off-Broadway. The daytime icon is set to star in an upcoming Off-Broadway revival of Neil Simon’s classic 1988 farcical comedy, Rumors.
Davidson isn’t the only soap opera alum or Real Housewives star joining the high-profile production. In fact, former Days of Our Lives actress Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie Reed) is also set to take the stage as part of a rotating, all-star cast featuring The Real Housewives alumni at the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space in New York City.
Eileen Davidson and Lisa Rinna Join the Rumors Cast
Eileen Davidson will take on the role of sharp-tongued socialite Claire Ganz alongside co-stars Cynthia Bailey, Carole Radziwill, and Candiace Dillard-Bassett. Davidson’s run in the production will span from March 2 through April 21, 2027.
Meanwhile, Lisa Rinna will headline the first rotating cast alongside Phaedra Parks, Stacey Rusch, and Dolores Catania. Rinna’s performance run kicks off early next year, running from January 9 through February 28, 2027.
What is Neil Simon’s Rumors About?
Written in 1988 by legendary playwright Neil Simon, the hilarious two-act farce revolves around four wealthy couples who arrive at a luxury townhouse in Sneden’s Landing, New York, to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary of Charley Brock (the Deputy Mayor of New York City) and his wife, Myra.
The evening quickly devolves into absolute chaos. The first couple to arrive, Ken and Chris Gorman, discover that Charley has accidentally shot himself in the earlobe during a botched, Valium-induced attempt; Myra is nowhere to be found, and the entire household staff has vanished!
Naturally, the situation gets worse.
Worried about a scandal involving a prominent public official, Ken and Chris try to keep the bizarre circumstances under wraps as the other couples arrive. Their efforts to control the story only create more confusion.
When police officers show up to investigate reports of gunshots and a car crash, the guests find themselves scrambling to explain the increasingly ridiculous situation. The result is a fast-paced comedy packed with misunderstandings, frantic cover-ups and a famously chaotic climax.
Daytime and theater fans can visit Playbill for official ticketing details and complete performance schedules.
Which star are you more excited to see in Rumors — Eileen Davidson or Lisa Rinna? And which Real Housewives personality would you most like to see on stage? Share your pick in the comments!
