Eric Braeden who has played Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless for over 40 years, pays tribute to Meg Bennett who died at the age of 75.
Bennett had an illustrious career that included starring on Y&R as Victor Newman’s first wife. She also played roles on Santa Barbara and General Hospital. Bennett was not just an actress but also a writer, having written for daytime serials such as GH, Y&R, Sunset Beach, Generations, Santa Barbara and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Eric Braeden Pens Heartfelt Tribute:
Eric Braeden took to Twitter to pay tribute to Meg Bennett. He wrote, “My first “wife” Julia, played by my friend MEG BENNETT, has passed away! She succumbed to the ravages of cancer! I had not seen much of MEG in the last years, except at my 40th anniversary! She was such a bright and gentle lady! I remember she taught me about the history of soaps and the actors in it! She was very bright and BILL BELL had her write for him! She was a pleasure to be around and have conversations with; always very informed! I remember her infectious smile and gentleness! She was a beautiful woman! May you rest in peace, dear MEG! Yours ERIC!”
Bennett made a memorable debut on Y&R in 1980 as the wife of Victor Newman. She played the role on and off and her most recent return coincided with Eric Braeden’s 40th anniversary in 2020.
