The Young and the Restless legend Eric Braeden, best known as Victor Newman, just shared a health update that caught fans by surprise.
In a new video posted to his official Facebook, the longtime star revealed he’s been recovering from pneumonia and was out of work for about two weeks.
“Hello everyone, I haven’t talked to you for a while. I had pneumonia for about two weeks, and I’m over it now. We all got sick as a matter of fact,” he said.
Braeden explained that while others in his family also got sick, it hit him harder.
“I don’t know where, but my son, my granddaughter did, but I, because of my age, had it a bit worse than others, but I’m over it now.”
“Pneumonia Is No Walk in the Park”
The actor didn’t sugarcoat how tough the experience was.
“Pneumonia is no walk in the park… It’s like a ton of bricks,” he shared, adding that recovery took time but improved day by day.
Thankfully, he credits modern medicine for helping him bounce back.
“Thanks to modern medicine, thanks to antibiotics… how nice it is to come out of that kind of sickness.”
Back to Work and Taking It Slow
Now on the mend, Braeden says he’s easing back into his routine, including working out again, but with more caution than before.
“I’ve learned over the years that coming back all of a sudden is not good… you’ve got to introduce it all very slowly.”
And it didn’t take long before he was back on set, making up for lost time.
“I had to make up for not being there for two to three weeks… a lot of days of double duty, but we survived it.”
Grateful to Be Back
More than anything, Braeden made it clear how much he appreciates being able to work and do what he loves.
“I love being back to work, I love being back to my colleagues… what a privilege to be able to go to work.”
He even gave a shoutout to some of his co-stars, including Melody Thomas Scott, who plays Nikki, sharing how much he values those on-set moments, even the intense ones.
“Work is wonderful… right now I have some difficult scenes with Melody… afterwards we hug each other, because we know we did a good job.”
We are happy he’s recovering, and he’s ready to get back to doing what he does best. Watch Eric Braeden’s full video below!
