General Hospital colleagues, Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Eva LaRue engaged in an enlightening conversation on Benard’s YouTube serial, State of Mind. The conversation delved into topics such as anxiety, depression, losses, health issues, and more, with Eva LaRue openly discussing her role as Natalia Rogers Ramirez on GH, her latest endeavor in the soap world.
At the latter end of the interview released on June 16, 2024, LaRue said, “Well you know what there’s probably something you don’t really know if you want to hit it really quickly, because I’ve been reading a lot about about it. The last three months, I’ve been really struggling with some really big health issues.”
LaRue has observed a trauma response to grief, akin to childhood trauma. Over the past four years, she has experienced multiple losses within her family. It began with the passing of her father, followed by the death of her ex-husband, John Callahan, who was also the father of her daughter, within six months. Subsequently, her mother-in-law passed away, and then her aunt, followed by her uncle.
Having lost six family members in the last four years, Eva LaRue felt disoriented and unable to cry. She reveals that her body began to face some health issues in the last three months. After falling ill for around two months, they initially thought it was long covid. She was diagnosed with a parasite and underwent treatment with anti-parasitic medication. Unfortunately, she suffered an extreme allergic reaction to the medication, leading to a four-day hospitalization.
Eva LaRue adds that she had to wear a heart monitor for four days for further evaluation, despite never having experienced heart problems before. Her low blood pressure has caused her to faint around five times in the past two and a half months. (Photo: ABC) Watch the full interview below:
