After a successful run across multiple soaps, Greg Vaughan is adding yet another credit to his already stacked résumé. The daytime favorite is set to make his debut as Kial Rollins on Beyond the Gates on Monday, December 8, when Nicole Dupree (Daphnee Duplaix) heads out on a date with him.
Vaughan, best known to many as Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives, has landed a recurring role on the CBS daytime drama. His character, Kial, is described as an orthopedic surgeon who arrives in Fairmont Crest carrying plenty of personal history. Kial is a widowed father of two adult sons, and according to Vaughan, he’s a bit of a wanderer.
Who Will Greg Vaughan Play on Beyond the Gates?
In an interview with TV Insider, Vaughan teased, “He’s kind of a nomad. He’s not really rooted, and he’s trying to find his lane. He comes into Fairmont Crest, and he has an association with some of the staff there at the hospital.”
Of course, Vaughan’s daytime credentials stretch far beyond Days. He previously played Diego Guttierez on The Young and the Restless and Lucky Spencer on General Hospital. And thanks to his role as Calvin on Queen Sugar, he’s already familiar with BTG star Timon Kyle Durrett (Bill Hamilton), giving him another connection as he steps into this new world.
As for what this means for his status on Days of Our Lives, Vaughan told TV Insider, “I’m open. I’m not on contract. But after day two here, it already felt like a new home, a place of being embraced.”
And it’s quite the range when you look at it; Vaughan has gone from playing a cop on Y&R, to a priest on Days, and now a doctor on Beyond the Gates. Talk about versatility.
Remember, Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS.
