It’s
so sad that come September 7, 2017 fans will have to say goodbye to Commissioner Raines
as Aaron D. Spears ends his run on ‘Days of Our Lives’, but the good news is we
will still see him as Justin Barber on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’. Spears
joined ‘Days’ in 2016 joining the short list of actors pulling double duty on
daytime soaps. Apart from his work on daytime, he played Mark Bradley on
‘Being Mary Jane’ alongside Gabrielle Union and played roles on series such as;
Greenleaf, Bones, Criminal Minds, Shark and Everybody Loves Raymond. Soap Opera
Intel caught up with the talented actor who dished on becoming Salem’s newest
bad guy, playing Justin on B&B, upcoming projects and more.
With
pulling double duty on daytime and playing two different characters fans would
think it would be a challenge separating the two. But that’s not the case says
Spears, “NEVER a problem separating the
two characters.  Two totally different personas hence two totally
different characters,” he tells us. And he’s Salem’s newest bad guy of
which he had the time of his life playing.
“Definitely a fun character to play.  A good guy/bad guy with
edge.  Commissioner Raines has been a blast to portray.  Looking
forward to more good times…” he shared further teasing us, “
You’ll see what Commissioner RAINES has up his sleeve!!!
His
days may be over and the sands in his hourglass has ran out but Spears wouldn’t mind
returning to the show and continue his “rainy” journey. When we asked
him about a longer stay in Salem, he replied, “Once again, up to the writers.
Judging by the fans response, I think it could be very beneficial for both of
us to have Commissioner Raines stick around Salem and continue stirring the
pot
.”
As
mentioned earlier, Spears also plays Justin on B&B and on that subject he
wouldn’t mind having a more prominent story on the show but that’s all up the
writers. “I’m always looking to fill in the dynamic outline of Justin that B&B
has created from the beginning;  From family with Donna (Jennifer Gareis) and
Marcus (ex-Texas Battle), to being related to characters on Y&R (the crossover
appeal), to holding down the fort with Dollar Bill (Don Diamont).  The pen
is in the hands of BRADLEY BELL and how he sees fit to shade in Justin’s
coloring book.  I’m open and down to do it if it’s in the cards
,” he shared.
What about his work on primetime shows and
other gigs? Fans don’t worry; he tells us “Just recently recurred opposite Oprah Winfrey on GREENLEAF and coming
this January, I will be recurring on A GIRLFRIENDS GUIDE TO DIVORCE on
BRAVO.  Other movies and primetime projects in the works that I’ll
announce at another time once cleared.
” Spears further added that he
is “Looking
to make greater
gains and positive changes in
my career as well as others.”
So ‘Days’ fans are you sad he is leaving? Do
you want more Raines?
