The 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards are bringing plenty of first-time nominees into the spotlight, and that includes Alice Halsey.
Before passing the torch to Lorelei Olivia Mote, Halsey played Rachel Black on Days of Our Lives, using her tenure on the show to really flex her acting chops with some heavy and highly emotional material.
Those powerhouse performances have now officially earned her a spot among the contenders for Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Drama Series. Halsey is sharing the category with some stellar young talent, including Ambyr Michelle (Eva Thomas, Beyond the Gates), Arielle Prepetit (Naomi Hawthorne, Beyond the Gates), Giovanni Mazza (Gio Palmieri, General Hospital), and Braedyn Bruner (Emma Scorpio-Drake, General Hospital).
Soap Opera News chatted exclusively with Halsey about her big nomination, and she took us behind the scenes of her Emmy reel selection.

What Alice Halsey Submitted for Emmy Consideration

“In another, I plead with my father not to abandon me in Bayview, which is Salem’s famous mental hospital.”
But it was her final choice that probably carried the most emotional weight. “The final scene I submitted is from John Black’s funeral. I never got to meet Drake Hogestyn, but I wanted to honor him by showing Rachel’s devastation at his loss.”
Finding out about the nomination is a memory Halsey will definitely carry with her for a lifetime—and it happened in a pretty iconic setting.
Halsey confirmed that she found out that she was nominated when her dad told her.
“I was actually on the set of Little House on the Prairie [where she’s playing the lead role of Laura Ingalls] when he surprised me with it. I was shocked and really excited.”
It Blew Her Mind
Reflecting on her time in Salem, Halsey is incredibly touched that her dedication to the role resonated with the daytime community.
“I took the privilege of playing Rachel in this iconic show seriously because I know how much it means to the fans,” she said. “If this nomination means the fans and my fellow actors appreciated my work, then I’m very grateful.”
She added, “I’ve never been nominated for anything before, and it honestly just blows my mind.”
