It was a truly special day for Adrian Anchondo, best known for his role as Marco Rios on General Hospital, on November 19.

The actor shared a deeply personal and heartfelt moment on Instagram. He revealed that he not only brought his grandmother to the set of the iconic daytime soap, but also had his cousins there to witness the magic of the show and meet the stars she’s admired for years.

In a lengthy and emotional post, Anchondo explained, “I brought gramma to work today. Took her behind the scenes of what I love, what I’ve worked for since I was a teenager.”

For him, this day was about more than just showing his family around; it was a chance to share the life he’s worked so hard for with the people who’ve always supported him, even when it felt like he wasn’t being taken seriously.

“Over the years I’ve struggled with being taken seriously for my passion, begged friends and family to come see me in plays, to turn on their tv for a few minutes, to share something I created,” he shared, reflecting on the struggles that come with pursuing a dream in a competitive industry.

Adrian Anchondo Talks His Struggles

Anchondo didn’t hold back. He was an open book about his battles with anxiety and self-doubt.

I’ve been battling anxiety, often fighting with myself at 3am, allowing intrusive thoughts to hinder my performance on and off the stage,” he admitted.

He also touched on the emotional challenges of being in the business, from facing rejection to navigating the complex realities of aging, identity, and the pressure to fit into molds that don’t always reflect who you truly are.

Fan theories and mean comments, internal and external comparisons, becoming friends with rejection and censorship, the reality of aging, the need for acceptance of my sexuality and ethnicity, and the constant fear of temporary,” he wrote.

But on this particular day, all those struggles seemed to fade away. Anchondo described the profound joy he felt when he saw his grandmother smiling as she witnessed his stardom.

Meeting the Stars

But all of that vanished today when I saw her smiling behind the camera, feeling the light of her pride shining on me. She took pictures with actors she’s admired and watched for decades, people that I get to call my coworkers,” he shared.

In that moment, it was as though the weight of everything he’d been through lifted, and he was reminded of why he does what he does.

“Through her eyes I was once again reminded that this is real, that I’m one of them, that I’m doing what I was meant to do. She helped me pinch myself and breathe again, to let go of what I can’t control.”

In his post, Anchondo also expressed immense gratitude to the General Hospital family, particularly the actors who made his grandmother feel welcome and at home. “Thank you to the @generalhospitalabc family, especially @fvalentinigh, @1steveburton, @kelly_thiebaud, @joshswickard, @welcometolaurasworld, and @jacklynquackenbush for being so welcoming to my Grandmother and cousins,” he wrote.

And from the looks of the photos, his grandmother got the chance to meet some of the show’s biggest stars, including Steve Burton (Jason), Josh Swickard (Chase), and Kelly Thiebaud (Britt).

This will definitely go down in Anchondo’s personal history books—and we’re sure his grandmother won’t be forgetting it anytime soon either!
