Mark Goddard dies at 87







Mark Goddard passed away at the age of 87. Billy Mumy, his friend shared the sad on Facebook. Mumy wrote that Goddard was a truly beloved friend and brother to him for 59 years. He also mentioned that he knew this was coming for the past few months and that the last words they exchanged were “I love you.” 

Mark Goddard, born Charles Harvey Goddard on July 24, 1936, was an American actor with many starring roles. He was raised in Scituate, Massachusetts, as the youngest of five children in a Catholic family. He led his high school baseball and basketball teams to the state championship finals. Although he initially dreamed of becoming a basketball player, he eventually turned to acting. He attended the College of the Holy Cross after high school but later transferred to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. After two years, he moved to Los Angeles.

Goddard was best known for his role as Major Don West in Lost In Space, Ted Clayton on One Life to Live, Paul Reed on The Doctors, Derek Barrington on General Hospital and more. Unfortunately, Mark Goddard passed away on October 10, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and their children Melissa, Michael, Caleb, and John. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. (Photo: JPI)
