General Hospital has added another new face to its cast lineup. As eagle-eyed fans of the ABC daytime drama recently noticed, Australian actor Dean Geyer was spotted in a behind-the-scenes clip celebrating a major milestone for the soap: 16,000 episodes.
Now, that casting has officially been confirmed.
According to TV Insider, Geyer has joined the cast of General Hospital and, coincidentally, the day the news broke was also his first day of filming. The actor is set to play Tristan Roberts and will make his debut in the coming weeks.
From Australian Idol to Port Charles
For those unfamiliar with Geyer, he’s probably best known for finishing third on the 2006 season of Australian Idol before transitioning into acting.
Many viewers will recognize him from his role as Brody Weston on Glee. He also appeared as Mark Reynolds on Terra Nova.
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Geyer later moved to Australia with his family. His love of music started at a young age, and he learned to play guitar while writing original songs. In fact, one of his earliest songs, “Change,” was inspired by his family’s move from South Africa to Australia.
During his Australian Idol audition, he even performed one of his own compositions, titled “Nice to Meet You.”
Who Is Tristan Roberts?
General Hospital is keeping details about Tristan Roberts under wraps for now.
Could he be connected to an existing family in Port Charles? Is he a new love interest? Or maybe he’s bringing trouble with him.
As we all know, this is Port Charles. For now, fans will have to wait and see when Geyer officially makes his debut in the coming weeks.
