Daytime soaps really do have some of the best actors in the world. Week after week, we’re reminded just how talented they are, and this week on General Hospital was no exception. Case in point: this week on GH, viewers were treated to a gut-punching scene as veteran actress Finola Hughes broke hearts playing Anna Devane. She wasn’t alone, though—soap newcomer, Braedyn Bruner, who has quickly become a fan favorite, was right there with her as Emma Scorpio-Drake.

It’s no wonder the two women have been named Soap Opera News  Performers of the Week for February 2–6, 2026.

Here’s what went down.

Emma Gets Shocking News on GH

Anna had been MIA for a while. She had also become unreachable. So naturally, Emma became very worried about her grandmother.

However, this week, things really kicked off into high gear when, at the Quartermaine mansion, Emma received a call she wasn’t expecting. It was an update about her grandmother Anna, and the news was even more shocking—Anna was found in France and was claiming the believed-to-be-dead Faison was still alive.

This was some big news to process; however, Emma didn’t do it alone. In fact, she rushed over to the hospital to tell her Aunt Felicia what she had learned.

Felicia was just as stunned by the news, and it quickly became clear that they couldn’t handle this alone. They had to take action. So, Mac was looped in on the matter, and he and Felicia decided they must go to France. Emma wanted to go to.

After all, this is her beloved grandmother. But they wanted her to stay behind. Emma was not having it, so she threatened them and told them that if they did not bring her, she would go alone. Ultimately, they all decided to go together.

The visit to France

Once they arrived, they found Anna in a mental health clinic. Clearly, the trauma, drugging, and brainwashing had left her convinced Faison was alive and that she had to stop him. She tried to convince Felicia to get her out of there so she could stop Faison once and for all. Anna even told Emma to stay away. She was worried her granddaughter would be in danger.

Watching Emma’s reaction was heartbreaking. She refused to leave her grandmother behind, crying and protesting as Anna was restrained by staff. Mac and Felicia had no choice but to pull a devastated Emma away.

A performance to remember

Finola Hughes delivered a masterclass as Anna, perfectly capturing the character’s anguish, fear, and desperation. Braedyn Bruner matched her step for step, showing Emma’s heartbreak, love, and frustration in a way that felt completely real.

Together, they created a scene that had fans glued to their screens and tearing up along with them. And talking about it too.

It’s no surprise that we’re naming Finola Hughes and Braedyn Bruner our Performers of the Week. Congrats ladies!
