General Hospital Episode Recap and Spoilers for December 26, 2023:
What happened today on General Hospital: Nina seeks absolution. Spencer and Trina enjoy Christmas Eve together. Ava is alerted. Sonny and Laura search for answers. Esme almost gets caught.

Nina unknowingly confesses to Cyrus that her life has been spiraling out of control and she has hurt some people she loves. Cyrus acting as a priest, encourages her to confide in God and let go of her guilt. Nina eventually opens up and admits that it’s too late for her to make things right. Cyrus advises her to confess to the people she hurt, but Nina fears losing everything. Cyrus reminds her that the truth will set her free and she thanks him, promising not to forget his advice. As she leaves, Cyrus says he won’t forget either.
Later, the father arrives and says he is unavoidably absent for a confession. Cyrus then asks the father for advice on how to help a friend who is feeling lost and alone. The father praises Cyrus for being a good friend and reminds him that confession is good for the soul. Cyrus notes that if Nina doesn’t confess, he might have to do it for her.

Laura and Carly are at the hospital talking about how crazy Christmas Eve it has been when Sonny arrives. He tells Laura that he enjoyed her reading. Laura tells him about the rumor that he was the one funding the hospital Christmas and says it was a shame Nina wasn’t there to see it all. He says she is at church and will eventually be there. They talk about missing Bobbie this Christmas. They all figure Luke’s affairs are a mess, and it’s taking longer for Bobbie to straighten things out, but she will be there soon. Nina arrives and apologizes for missing everything. Sonny gets an alert that there has been a breaking on Spoon Island and Dante is there. Laura offers to go with Sonny.
As Laura and Sonny depart, Nina opens up to Carly. She admits that she stayed at the church to seek guidance about her behavior. Nina expresses gratitude for the time she spends with her daughter and grandkids. She discusses the SEC, Drew, and the challenging times Carly has endured. Nina asks Carly for forgiveness, and Carly is confused by what she means.
Nina explains that the holidays make her reflect on the past, and she realized that she wrongly blamed Carly for Nelle’s death. This blame led her to seek revenge, and now she wants to be a better person. She wants to be someone her family can be proud of. However, Carly tells Nina that she cannot find redemption with her and must seek it elsewhere.

Trina and Spencer discuss Esme’s generosity in letting him have Ace for the night. Trina suggests that Esme’s motive might not have been generosity, but rather a date. Spencer wonders who Esme could have gone on a date with. Trina proposes that Esme may have met someone new. Spencer admits that the only thing that worries him is how the person Esme is dating would treat Ace. Later, Esme calls Spencer and tells him that she needs to talk to him about something. He asks if something is wrong, but Esme stays silent. Spencer assumes that Esme is worried about Ace since it’s her first night away from him. Esme reveals that she won’t be picking up Ace tonight. Trina thinks she should leave, but Spencer advises her to stay, admitting that it’s hard for him to stay away from her since their trip to New York. After a kiss, Trina admits that she can’t stop thinking about Esme and asks if Spencer really believes that Esme has changed.
At Wydemere, Esme is feeling overwhelmed and emotional as she remembers everything. Ava arrives and notices that someone has been on the property. She receives a call from security and is informed that they received an alert and have alerted the PCPD. Ava thanks the security personnel and hangs up while pulling out her gun, saying, “That may be too late.”
Dante arrives and asks Ava what she is doing with the gun. Ava explains that even though she moved out of the property, it is still hers. Later, Sonny and Laura arrive and Laura and Dante leave to check the surroundings of the property. Sonny questions Ava about the break-in and Ava suggests that it could have been anyone. Sonny assures her that he will do whatever he can to keep her safe. He wonders if someone is not targeting Ava, but him..
Emse hears footsteps and runs for it. Dante and Laura come and find that the turret door is left open. They go to check it out while Esme runs and accidentally drops one of her gloves. Meanwhile, Dante returns and finds the glove.
Esme goes to visit her father’s grave and reflects on how much she wanted to change. She feels unable to share the news that her memory has returned. Esme is convinced that she cannot change because of her parents and fears that evil may be in her DNA. Later, she realizes that she has lost one of her gloves somewhere.
