General Hospital Recap January 19, 2024: Today on General Hospital – Carly and Sam discuss the recent changes in Drew. Drew makes a big business decision. Dex comforts Joss. Spencer confesses to Laura. Esme is desperate.

Dex meets Josslyn at the chapel, where she offers her apologies for missing his call and explains that she has been preoccupied. Dex shares his desire to be informed about what she is going through so that he can adequately support her.
Joss wants to apologize to Adam, but Dex asserts that the only people who should offer apologies are Adam’s parents. Expressing disbelief at Adam’s distress over his academic performance, Josslyn is taken aback. Dex reminds her that Adam loves his parents and feels inadequate as he struggles to meet their expectations. Recognizing the depth of Adam’s need, Josslyn remarks that he truly requires help, to which Dex suggests that he needs a true friend, much like she has been for him
GH Recap January 19, 2024:
Adam awakens and inquires of Willow the reason for his presence in the hospital. She informs him that it is due to his friend having saved his life. Although he lacks recollection of the events from the previous night, Willow elucidates that Josslyn discovered him in the park. Expressing a desire to return to his dorm, Willow advises him that he must first receive clearance from the attending physician. Willow also tells him that he is lucky to be alive.
Later, Portia arrives, and Adam seeks an estimation of his discharge. Despite apologizing and attributing the events of the previous night to a misunderstanding, Adam asserts that his friend Josslyn was just overreacting. Portia, however, is acquainted with Josslyn and says that’s not the type of person she is. Portia reveals that Adam must undergo evaluation by a psychologist before being released. She conveys that his release is contingent upon the determination that the events were indeed an incident, and if this is not the case, further action will need to be taken.

Eager to ascertain the details of such action, Adam is apprised that in the event that hospital policy deems him a danger to himself, his release would be precluded. Upon mention of his parents, Adam hastily interjects, stipulating that they must not be informed. Notwithstanding his plea, Portia asserts the obligation to alert his parents, citing the hospital’s records that list them as his emergency contacts. She posits that a support system will be imperative for him and encourages honesty with his physician, parents, and, notably, himself.
As Portia converses with Willow, Joss and Dex approach, expressing their desire to speak with Adam. Portia informs them that Adam cannot have any visitors at the moment. After, Adam’s father arrives and demands to see his son. He shares his disdain for accruing unnecessary expenses and insists on taking his son home.
Josslyn intervenes, emphasizing the urgent need for Adam to get help. Mr. Wright inquires about his son’s condition, to which they describe the events involving Adam and Joss suggests that Adam has been concealing his struggles from his parents out of fear. Mr. Wright asserts that both he and Adam’s mother solely desire the best for their son, prioritizing his well-being above all else. Josslyn goes as far as to disclose to him that his son attempted to take his own life.

When Laura arrives to meet with Cyrus, he discusses taking responsibility for the attack and dropping the charges against Sonny. He claims to have found inner peace, while Laura questions the reason for her summons. Cyrus explains that he called her due to a distressed individual in need of her assistance. As Spencer arrives, Cyrus remarks on the perfect timing. He elaborates that Esme had visited him, allowing Spencer to disclose the remaining details to Laura.
Spencer shocks Laura by revealing his encounter with his father. He explains that Nikolas had come to take Ace, and he allowed it. Laura is outraged at his actions, especially considering Esme’s role as a capable mother and her proven dedication. The situation escalates as Laura shares her empathy for Esme and questions how Nikolas could disrupt the infant’s life. Spencer reveals that Esme has been deceitful and has her memories back. Despite this, Cyrus warns of the potential repercussions if Esme locates Nikolas and Ace. Laura advocates involving the authorities and reproaches Spencer for not seeking her assistance. While she acknowledges Spencer’s reluctance to betray his father, she insists that Ace belongs with them. In contrast, Spencer sees his father’s actions as the salvation of Ace’s life.

Ava is at the gallery when she hears someone come in, assuming it is Trina. To her surprise, it is Esme, who urgently seeks her help. After apologizing for breaking into Wyndemere, Esme inquires about Nikolas, as she reveals he had abducted her son with Spencer’s consent. Ava discloses that he Nikolas indeed visited, but he is already gone, making it clear that Esme’s quest to find him would be in vain. Nonetheless, Esme is determined, suggesting she may have her own resourceful contacts despite Nikolas’s ability, as a Cassadine, to evade detection.
Sam pays a visit to Carly at Kelly’s. She expresses a preference to await Drew’s arrival before placing her order. Carly promptly advises her that the wait may be a while. She explains that Drew has a scheduled morning meeting at Aurora. Sam proceeds to discuss her and Drew’s planned meeting in an attempt to address existing tensions. She remarks on the noticeable changes since his release from Pentonville and inquires whether Carly shares the same observation. Carly talks about Drew’s difficult time at Pentonville and his ongoing struggle. Both Sam and Carly concur on the necessity of providing Drew with the support he needs.

Nina arrives at her office and discovers some men removing her belongings. Perplexed by the situation, she questions who authorized this action. Drew enters and declares that he is the one who orchestrated her removal from the office. He reminds her of his ownership of Aurora, which in turn owns Crimson and asserts his longstanding position as her superior before announcing her termination. Refusing to acquiesce, Nina highlights Michael’s ownership of Aurora and speculates on his reaction. Drew thinks that Michael would express satisfaction at her firing. Nina then talks about her pivotal role in steering Crimson clear of bankruptcy many years ago.
Carly Gets A New Job!
Asserting her emotional attachment to the company, Nina questions Drew on the implications of jeopardizing his daughter’s legacy. Refusing to involve his daughter in the discussion, Drew and Nina engage in a heated exchange as he accuses her of not thinking about his well-being when she tipped off the SEC. In response, Nina holds him accountable for placing himself in jeopardy and questions the validity of terminating her based on emotions. Drew, vowing retribution, presents her with a termination agreement, leaving her to deliberate on the ultimatum. He insists that she signs the agreement, warning of dire consequences for Crimson should she oppose him.
After signing, Nina informs him that he will never be able to replace her. However, Carly enters with a smile as Drew announces, “Nina, meet Crimson’s new Editor in Chief.“
