General Hospital Episode Recap and Spoilers for January 9, 2024:
What happened today on General Hospital: Alexis and Gregory discuss their kiss. Marshall and Stella clash. Trina confides in Stella. Sonny seeks out Carly. Laura takes Esme to the PCPD.
GH Recap Today, January 9, 2024
Sonny arrives at Kelly’s and feels like he should leave. He asks Carly to give his condolences to everyone. As he is walking away, Carly runs into his arms. Together, they go inside, and Sonny assures her that she can always ask for his help if she needs anything. Carly is worried about how she will break the news of Bobbie’s passing to the girls. Sonny reminds her that she was there for him when they had to tell the kids about Mike. He promises to be there for her too. Carly admits that losing her mother hurts, and she misses her terribly.
Sonny shares fond memories of Bobbie. Carly tells him that her mom liked him because he was friends with Luke. However, Bobbie didn’t like how volatile they were together. Sonny thinks that Bobbie only wanted Carly to be happy, and she didn’t think that could happen with him. Carly changes the subject and mentions how happy she is for Drew and how he showed up at the right time because it had been a tough night for her, especially when Nina came by. Carly doesn’t want to talk about Nina, but she apologizes to Sonny if he’s not happy. She wants him to be happy.

Ava visits the PCPD and questions Dante, who informs her that the person who broke into Wyndemere is present and has confessed. Esme seems anxious and Laura tries to calm her down by telling her that once she tells the truth, she will feel better.
Dante then brings Ava in. Laura pleads with Ava to listen to Esme’s side of the story and hopes they can reach a settlement without involving a judge. Ava agrees to hear Esme out and Esme confesses that she broke into Wyndemere to see if she could unlock her memories.
She apologizes to Ava but Ava asks her if breaking into her home achieved the desired results. Esme replies that she still has no idea who she is and feels just as lost as ever. She regrets her actions and begs Ava not to separate her from her son. Laura suggests that they could work something out. Ava asks Dante about the average sentence for breaking and entering and he informs her that since Esme didn’t steal anything and confessed, she may not get a harsh sentence. However, Ava insists on pressing charges and points out that a slap on the wrist is nothing compared to what Esme did to Trina. Later, Dante arrests an emotional Esme who claims that Laura had assured her that this would not happen.

Gregory visits Alexis, who is thrilled to see him. She shows him some pictures of their skydiving adventure and suggests they get certified to jump solo. However, Gregory declines, saying that one jump was enough for him. He thanks her for the experience and then brings up the kiss they shared. He admits that he can’t stop thinking about it and tells her that she keeps him honest and on his toes. Alexis is flattered by his compliments. Gregory then surprises her by apologizing for kissing her without her consent. He explains that he should have never done it and that he acted impulsively. Alexis reminds him that she kissed him back, but Gregory thinks it was out of sympathy. He asks if she would have kissed him if she didn’t know he was running out of time, but Alexis says she can’t answer that question. Finally, Gregory tells her that he values her as a friend and needs her to be his constant.

Stella, Marshall, Trina, and TJ are discussing the procedure for Curtis. Stella expresses her concern about the procedure not working, while Marshall encourages her not to have any doubts. He snaps at her and tells her that if she cannot help it, then she shouldn’t be there at all and storms off.
TJ follows Marshall, who realizes he had no right to lose his temper like that and decides to apologize to Stella. Marshall admits that he can’t stop thinking about the last time Curtis was on the operating table and worries that something might go wrong. He even says that he would rather have his son in a wheelchair than not at all.
Trina confides in Stella that she did something terrible. She reveals that she has been accepted into a program in Paris and that Spencer has agreed to go with her. However, Trina is torn because a part of her feels like she should stay to help Curtis with his recovery. Stella encourages her to go to Paris and enjoy the experience, assuring her that they will all be fine. Later, Marshall apologizes to Stella for snapping at her and brings up the subject of their interaction on Christmas Eve. He feels like they have been avoiding the topic and asks if something sparked between them. Stella says she doesn’t know what he means.
Portia and Curtis meet with the doctor to discuss Curtis’ upcoming surgery. During the consultation, Portia asks the doctor how many surgeries he has performed. He replies that he has done 25 surgeries so far, with only three of them being successful. The doctor reminds them of the potential risks involved and then leaves the couple alone for a moment. During this time, Curtis senses that Portia may be hesitant about the surgery. She tells him that he can make the final decision and admits that she is no longer thinking like a doctor but as his wife. She expresses her fear and concern for his safety.
Curtis reassures her that he won’t proceed with the surgery if she doesn’t feel comfortable with it. As the doctor returns to the room, Portia and Curtis inform him that they don’t want to wait any longer and have decided to go ahead with the procedure. Later, as Curtis is taken into surgery, he asks the family to look after his wife and to reassure her that he will be okay.
