General Hospital Recap January 16, 2024: Ava is furious. Spencer has an unexpected reunion. Josslyn finds Adam in trouble. Nina strikes a deal. Sonny reconsiders.
GH Recap Today:
Dex is in the middle of the mission at the hospital when Sonny arrives, looking for Cyrus’s room. Nina notices Sonny and quickly hides, while Sonny goes over to the room and signals Dex to stop his mission. Just as Dex is about to leave, Cyrus wakes up and grabs him by the wrist, demanding to know what he was doing.
Sonny then enters and requests a private conversation with Cyrus. Cyrus tells Sonny that he has good news for him, which will make him feel better. Dex leaves them alone to talk, and Cyrus informs Sonny that he won’t be pressing charges against him. Sonny asks Cyrus why he would do this and what he wants in return. Cyrus says that he doesn’t want anything and values his life, so he wants to keep living it. Sonny doesn’t believe him, but Cyrus says that someone else helped him to realize the error of his ways. When Sonny asks who that person is, Cyrus says that he can’t reveal their identity.
General Hospital Recap Today:
Dex runs into Nina and she questions him about why he is dressed as a nurse and why he is coming out of Cyrus’ room. She soon realizes that Sonny is inside the room and wants to hurry there, but Dex stops her. Nina tells Dex that she will never stop loving Sonny and that she is willing to do anything for the man she loves. Later, Sonny consults with Dex about what happened with Cyrus and wonders who got to him. Dex tells him that he knows who did it because someone was in his room when he arrived. As Sonny inquires who it was, Dex looks to Nina across the room, and Sonny realizes it was her. Sonny approaches Nina and she confesses that she made a lot of mistakes and apologizes, saying she is trying to fix the mess she created. Sonny tells her that she should not interfere in his life or business and, most importantly, stay away from him.
Nikolas Pleads With Spencer!
Spencer has a conversation with his dad and tells him that he will not leave Port Charles as his life is there. He does not trust his dad and insists that he nor his brother will leave town with him. Nikolas tells him that Ace is in danger if she stays in Port Charles. Nikolas also reminds Spencer that Esme is an evil person and will cause more pain. Spencer thinks that Esme has been a good mother, but Nikolas believes that her true nature is to be evil. Nikolas would like to stay in Port Charles and fight for custody of his son, but he cannot due to the circumstances.
Laura calls Spencer and tells him that Esme has received six months probation, which means she is basically free. Spencer then shares with his father that he feels Esme has regained her memories and is pretending. He recalls that while they were at the station, she called him “Spence,” the name she used when they were together, and she hasn’t used it since she lost her memories. Nikolas thinks this is even more reason that he should go on the run with Ace and appeals to Spencer. Spencer agrees but warns him that if he ever hurts his brother, he will make him pay. Nikolas wants Spencer to come along, but Spencer says he has made a life with Trina and cannot leave her
GH Recap Today: Trina and Esme Have it out!
Trina points out that Esme must be thrilled with the verdict. Esme acknowledges that Trina is upset about the verdict. However, Trina warns her not to assume that she knows what she’s thinking. Esme implies that if she were Trina, she would not give up until Esme is behind bars.
Trina believes that Esme deserves to pay for what she did to her and Joss, but prison for breaking into Wydnemere is a different case. Trina reveals her plans to Esme, telling her that she will be leaving Port Charles and that she doesn’t want her anger towards Esme to hold her back. Esme congratulates her on the decision, though she worries about Spencer. Trina proudly announces that Spencer is going with her. Esme is upset that Spencer is leaving Ace behind, but Trina explains that it’s a great opportunity for both of them.
Spencer notices that one of Ace’s toys is on the ground. He rushes to the door to see if he can catch up with Nikolas, but as he pulls the door, Esme is standing there.
GH Recap Today:
Josslyn arrives at the hospital and inquires of Willow about the whereabouts of her friend. Willow informs her that the medical professionals are attending to him, prompting Josslyn to depart hastily. Subsequently, Willow contacts Carly, urging her to come to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Finn and Liz assess Adam’s condition, noting a drop in his blood pressure. Liz proceeds to seek information about Adam’s medical history, emphasizing the importance of acquiring comprehensive details. Josslyn reveals that she found Adam at the park in a state of inebriation, with pills falling out of his pocket. She further discloses that Adam had been struggling for months, expressing bewilderment at how this went unnoticed.
Upon Carly’s arrival, she embraces her daughter, only to be informed by Josslyn that Adam attempted to take his own life. Following a medical update from Finn and Liz, it is revealed that Adam is expected to make a full recovery, thanks to Josslyn’s prompt actions. Subsequently, the discussion turns to the necessity of notifying Adam’s parents, prompting Willow to attempt the call, but Josslyn cites Adam’s parents as the cause of his distress. Finn asserts the hospital’s protocol necessitates parental notification. As Josslyn retrieves Adam’s guitar from the car and brings it to his room, she pledges to remain by his side until he regains consciousness.
