Coming next week, General Hospital fans will see a new face portraying Ezra Boyle, though it will be temporary. According to Soap Opera Digest, Patrick Scott Lewis will step in for Daniel Cosgrove in the role. Lewis will first appear in the Monday, March 2 episode and then again in the March 16 episode.
Why the Recast?
Fans of the ABC daytime drama are no strangers to emergency recasts or temporary replacements. In this case, the recast was due to scheduling conflicts. As reported by Soap Opera Digest, a powerful winter storm hit several regions in January, including major travel spots.
The storm caused widespread flight cancellations, creating massive travel headaches. Daniel Cosgrove, who plays Ezra Boyle on GH, was affected by the storm and couldn’t make his flight to Los Angeles for filming. As a result, General Hospital brought in Patrick Scott Lewis to temporarily take over the role.
Who is Patrick Scott Lewis?
Patrick Scott Lewis’s first episode as Ezra Boyle will air on Monday, March 2, with his second episode set for March 16. While this marks his first appearance as Ezra, it is not Lewis’s debut on General Hospital. Back in December 2024, he appeared in one episode as Mr. Thomas, who interrupted a conversation between Kai and Trina to snap a photo of his son with college football celebrity Kai.
In addition to his brief GH appearance, Lewis has appeared in various other TV shows, including Cold Case, CSI: Miami, and Castle. He also portrayed Victor Travis in the Netflix series Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
