The rumors are not true, and Rory Gibson himself just put them to rest! After internet chatter started circulating that Gibson had been dropped to recurring status in his role as Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, the actor went straight to his Instagram to set the record straight for his fans.

“Just got filled in on the twitter news lol,” Gibson wrote over a picture he shared on his Instagram Story. “Just rumors still on contract love GH be good to each other,” he said.

Well, there you have it!

Where Did the Rory Gibson Rumors Come From?

The wild rumors originally flared up shortly after Soap Opera Digest published their weekly comings and goings update. Under the General Hospital section, the outlet announced that Rory Gibson and his colleague Tanisha Harper (Jordan Ashford) would both be back on screen this week after being MIA for a while.

However, nowhere in the article did it state or even suggest that either star had been bumped to recurring status. This just once again proves that the internet rumor mill loves to run wild without facts!

We are super glad the news isn’t true!

Rory Gibson made his highly anticipated debut as Michael Corinthos on General Hospital back in May 2025. He stepped into the role following Chad Duell’s exit earlier that year. Since taking over the mantle, Gibson has won over daytime audiences in a huge way, with fans and critics continuously praising him as one of the absolute best recasts on the show in a long time!

How are you liking Rory Gibson’s run as Michael Corinthos so far? Let us know in the comments.
