Ryan Paevey, best known as Nathan West on General Hospital, isn’t just a daytime soap star; he’s also a talented jewelry maker. Recently, he completed a special project: Rory Gibson’s wedding band for his upcoming marriage to fiancée Alicia Ruelas.
Taking to Instagram, Paevey shared a behind-the-scenes look at the process and the final piece. He captioned the video, “Of all the stuff I make, making things for people I know, friends…those are my favorite.”
In the video, Paevey explained the story behind the band:
“So if you didn’t already know, I do occasionally work in film and television and I’ve been back on General Hospital since August of last year. So getting to work with new people, I’ve made some new friends. Rory and I got to talking about what we do outside of work, and I mentioned this—I work in my shop, I make things with my hands and make jewelry. And he said that he was getting married and was in the market for a wedding band. And I kind of just casually threw it in there… I only work in silver really, but I’ll make you a band if you just need a band. And I was really touched and honored that Rory would ask me to make his wedding band.”
The Wedding Band
Paevey continued, describing the design and sentiment behind it:
“We kind of just settled on this really simple design, a good, hearty, hammered band. It wasn’t an overly complicated thing, but it has meaning behind it. It wasn’t to show off technical expertise—it was a simple thing made for a good friend with sentimental value. I liked it. I think it turned out pretty cool.”
Gibson himself shared his excitement, commenting, “You da man 🤙🏼 thank you brotha.”
For context, Rory Gibson got engaged to Alicia Ruelas in October 2022 at Secret Cove Beach in Maui, Hawaii. The couple has been high school sweethearts for over 14 years.
It’s safe to say Paevey’s handcrafted wedding band is more than just jewelry—it’s a heartfelt keepsake for a lifelong friendship.
