On November 4, 2025, Laura Wright celebrated her 20th anniversary as Carly Spencer on General Hospital. However, she’s been in the genre much longer than that. Prior to becoming a lead on GH, Wright was known as Ally Rescott Bowman on Loving, All My Children, and The City. Her successful soap opera career continued as she moved over to Guiding Light, where she played Cassie Layne Winslow.
Laura Wright’s Most Difficult Storyline
In her two decades on GH, Wright has been part of countless storylines, but she says one of the hardest by far was Carly losing her son, Morgan Corinthos (played by Bryan Craig). She told TV Insider, “That was the most difficult and emotional. That was really hard, and I felt surrounded by my incredible castmates doing incredible work as well.”
What’s Next for Carly on General Hospital?
Even after twenty years, Wright still loves what she does, and she’s already teasing what Carly’s next chapter is going to look like. One that is bound to keep the viewers spelling and guessing.
“No one’s going to see it coming,” she teased, adding, “It’s going to be very surprising, and we’ll see what happens. I just know that it’s going to be fun and very sneaky, and it’s interesting. I think at first people might have thought that I would have been annoyed with it, but I’m like, ‘Oh, I love it and it makes sense to me,’ so I’m excited about that.”
Right now, Carly’s keeping things interesting, that’s for sure. She’s been playing the man in her life, Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna), while secretly teaming up with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) against him. She’s also managed to convince Brennan that the best way to get more information from the Steinmauer prisoner is to bring him closer to home so he can visit Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) more often.
So, could this be the next chapter Wright is teasing about, or do you think there’s going to be a whole lot more? All we know is we can’t wait to see what drama unfolds next on General Hospital. What do you think?
