As a Cassadine, GH’s Charlotte may be used to outlandish things happening around her. But portrayer Bluesy Burke is going through something sad that most of us can relate to in real life.
Pets are usually short-term props on soaps, and in television and movies in general – which almost seems odd, because caring for and loving puppies and kitties is an experience the majority of us have had.
But that devotion tends to come with the price of outliving our beloved companions, and Bluesy Burke (Charlotte Cassadine, GH) has had to confront that recently, as her July 11 Instagram post let us know.
Key Takeaways
- Bluesy Burke announced the passing of her beloved dog, Piggy.
- The actress shared an emotional tribute on Instagram.
- Several General Hospital co-stars offered their support.
- Piggy was 14 years old.
Bluesy Burke Reveals Loss
Burke, who joined GH in September 2025, alerted fans on Saturday that she had to part ways with trusted pal Piggy, a French bulldog. “though i only knew you for 7 out of your 14 years on this earth,” the teen wrote in all lowercase, “you claimed me as your kid the moment I met you and since then, you’ve been one of the most special things to me in this world.
“Doing nothing was suddenly a lot more fun with you by my side, sitting on top of me, or even if you were just in the room,” the actor continued. “You always knew when someone was upset or not feeling well and made it your job to make them feel better, and of course, you always did.
“You made every moment, even the darkest ones, lighter. I don’t know how I’m supposed to live without your sweet face and silly sounds and everything that makes you the pig,” Burke sighed. “Though I know your spirit will never truly leave us, I will miss you so so so incredibly much. Thank you for being shy’s soul dog and sharing all your love with the rest of us. Rest easy, sweet boy.”
The tribute was posted alongside a photo of Piggy and Burke from when she was little, Piggy in her lap and Bluesy in the lap of her father, actor Billy Burke, best known for his past roles in Twilight, 24, and Zoo, plus his current run on CBS’ Fire Country.
Billy Burke also wrote and recorded a song about his daughter called “Bluesy LaRue.”
Fan-tastic
Over 1,100 of Bluesy Burke’s fans liked her post, with many of them commenting, including fellow GH stars like Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks), who wrote, “What a cute baby…sending love.” Finn Carr (Rocco Falconeri) added, “Bluesy I’m so sorry…sending love,” and Tanisha Harper (Jordan Ashford) included both a heart and dove emoji.
