Troy Lennon Appel’s character, Hudson Parker, is still finding his footing in Port Charles on General Hospital, and while he has yet to fall in love on screen, the actor’s real life is full of romance! Appel is happily married and just celebrated his first wedding anniversary with his wife, Bernie Appel (a medical device sales representative), on October 11, 2026.
Taking to social media to mark the major milestone, Troy dropped a gorgeous batch of photos from their big day. He captioned them: “Only took a year to post, but we got there! Happy one year anniversary @bernie_appel_ It’s certainly been a great one.”
His General Hospital co-star Kayden Brenna Tokarski (Scout Cain) quickly jumped into the comments to shower the couple with love, writing, “What a beautiful couple!! Happy anniversary to you both!” Meanwhile, Bernie chimed in with her own sweet tribute: “Happy anniversary, love you and our crazy life together.”
A Picturesque New England Engagement
Before tying the knot, Troy and Bernie got engaged back on August 12, 2024, during a romantic trip to Edgartown, Massachusetts. At the time, Troy shared heartwarming pictures of himself dropping to one knee to pop the question—to which Bernie gave an enthusiastic yes!
Troy hilariously captioned the proposal photos: “Perfect place. Perfect people. Can’t really remember much of the morning after, so I’ll just say it was a perfect time. Huge thank you to @arletta_weddings for capturing the moment, and the biggest thank you to @berniemowry for saying yes.”
From High School Sports to Port Charles
Troy made his debut in the contract role of Hudson Parker on General Hospital on July 30, 2026. While he is winning over soap fans now, his path to daytime stardom was anything but typical.
It wasn’t until his sophomore year of high school that a teacher suggested he give acting a try, but it took another four years for him to muster up the courage to step onto the stage. Having grown up strictly focused on sports, the creative world of performing was totally foreign to him, but he quickly fell in love with the craft.
Troy went on to earn his very first role in the Muhlenberg College blackbox production of Mud during his junior year, followed by a small role in his first film, Iowa City. While pursuing a theater major, he starred in stage productions such as This Is a Chair and The Miss Firecracker Contest.
He ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Communications—all while competing as a two-time conference qualifier in the discus for the Varsity Track and Field team!
After college, Troy made the leap into film, television, and modeling. Today, he resides in Los Angeles, where he works as an AFAA-certified personal trainer while navigating his booming entertainment career.
You can catch Troy weekdays on ABC’s General Hospital. Huge congratulations to Troy and Bernie on celebrating their first year of marriage!
