Chad Duell who plays Michael Corinthos on General Hospital joined his co-star Maurice Benard who plays his onscreen father, Sonny Corinthos, on his YouTube show, State Of Mind this weekend and they dove deep!
They spoke about Chad’s childhood and family before delving into the mental health issues he had when he first joined General Hospital.
They talked about the issues they had personally when Chad took over the role from the previous actor who Maurice was very close to before addressing the elephant in the room, Chad’s relationship with Courtney Hope who plays Sally Spectra on The Young and the Restless.
Benard started the conversation by talking about the fact that he was still friendly with Courtney and he loved her and Chad does as well. He sent it over to Chad to address and he said, “Out of respect to her, I’m not going to delve too much into all this stuff, all I’ll say is she’s an amazing person, she’s an amazing woman, she’s an amazing dog mom. It’s a complicated situation, and it’s not what anybody thinks, I’m not going to get into detail, but it’s not what people think. There wasn’t anything terrible that happened, or someone did anything to anybody else. We’re still on good terms. She’s an amazing person in so many ways.”
He went on to add, “All I have to say is positive things, It’s just… mutual.”
He did shed some light on the actual nature of their relationship. Everyone thought they had gotten married in October of 2021 but according to Chad, “We didn’t actually sign anything. We weren’t really, like, you know, married or anything, really. It was amicable, kind of just that. And that’s all I can really say. We always want the best for each other.”
