Former General Hospital Art Director Charles “Chip” Dox has died at the age of 80.
While not formally announced until the final week of the month, the 80 year old Emmy award winning Soap Opera crew veteran passed away comfortably at a medical center in Burbank.
Dox spent his thirty year career working in Daytime on both Days of our Lives and General Hospital. He even met his wife at Days, Production Manager Jeanne Haney to whom he was married in 1994. They raised four children together and have four grandchildren.
In addition to winning an Emmy on two occasions, Chip Dox spent much of his free time giving back to the community around him. Dox spent his entire career working with Broadway charity events as well as the local Hollywood charity “Hang Out. Do Good.” which regularly provides bag lunches for the homeless population of Los Angeles. Dox retired from General Hospital in 2015.
Chip Dox will be remembered fondly by those who worked with him as a man who designed many of the locations in Port Charles and Salem that is still enjoyed today. (Photo: Deadline)
