Former Guiding Light star, Robert Newman (Josh Lewis) has lost his niece, Sally Newman, the founder of Charleston Legal Access. On his Facebook page he wrote, Three weeks ago tomorrow my extraordinary niece Sally Newman was taken from us by cancer. I’ve not posted about it because in a way I’ve really not been able to process it. She was such a joy. To be taken so young…just 36 years old…I truly can’t comprehend it. Thank you so much to NYU Law School for such a beautiful memoriam.

Perhaps I’ll post more one day…about what she meant to me and to so many of us. For now, I’ll just leave this here…

Her Memoriam state: “Sally Newman ’10, founder of Charleston Legal Access (CLA), died on August 16, 2019, at age 36. Born in Montana, Newman graduated from Dartmouth College in 2005 before attending NYU Law, where she was a Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar and an editor of the NYU Review of Law and Social Change. After graduating from the Law School, Newman served as an associate attorney with the Southern Environmental Law Center in Charleston, South Carolina, and then completed clerkships with Judge Harry Edwards of the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit and Judge Richard Gergel of the federal district court for the District of South Carolina.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Newman and the family!
