Beth Chamberlin Saw Hayden’s Talent Up Close
Taking to Facebook with a lengthy tribute, Chamberlin wrote, “I truly believe that of all the actors that worked with Hayden, only Grant, Tina and myself are the only actors that know just how amazingly talented she was. We worked with her from ages 8-11.”
She continued, “The writers wrote incredible storylines with her because of Hayden’s ability. What you must understand is that soaps are tough on an actor to begin with. Back then, we would shoot 6 scenes in a day, with a total of maybe 60 pages of dialogue. And they were shot all at once, one take with just a 5 second countdown in between each scene–And when you had the main storyline, that was 5 days a week. (By contrast, a prime time show takes 10 days to shoot an hour episode, a day time show shoots a one hour show every day, five days a week) Sometimes, between the dress rehearsal and tape they would need to cut pages, which would change our cue lines, would change our blocking and would change our characters’ emotional arc.”
Beth Chamberlin Honors Panettiere’s Unmatched Talent
Chamberlin notes, “To do this is hard for any actor, for a child, nearly impossible. The three of us saw Hayden day after day perform flawlessly, never a line dropped, never a missing cross in the blocking, never an emotion flat note. Please stand in awe of the amazing, unusual talent Hayden was. If you can find them, go back and look at some of her scenes on Guiding Light. I honestly believe she is the best young actor to ever walk on a set and it saddens me that most don’t know this. If you watched her on GL or anything else and she awed you as she did me, please share a memory of how incredible she was.”
She ended by saying, “Hayden deserves to be remembered for the bright light she was. Edit: And thank you for all that are posting memories. Please keep them coming. I want people to know and remember her for her incredible impact.”
According to reports, Panettiere died at her home in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16, 2026, at age 36. She was found unresponsive by a friend. A police statement indicated she was pronounced dead at the scene and that preliminary findings showed no signs of foul play.
Panettiere leaves behind her 11-year-old daughter. May she rest in peace.
