A Ted Richardson swap is coming on Beyond the Gates: Keith D. Robinson is set to take over the role from Maurice Johnson, as previously reported. Robinson’s first airdate is set for May 15. Responding to a fan on his Instagram account, Robinson confirmed the date he will start airing on the CBS daytime drama.
Recasts are not uncommon in daytime soap operas. In fact, it has been a thing of the genre for many years. Robinson is set to take on the role during a gripping storyline in Beyond the Gates, where his character, Ted, faces the fallout of his lies, exposed by none other than his name-changing, wig-wearing, ex-Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant).
We assume he will desperately try to make amends with his wife, Nicole (Daphnee Duplaix), his children, and the Dupree family, while also grappling with the reality that he has a newfound daughter, Eva (Ambyr Michelle).
About Keith D. Robinson
Robinson, who hails from Louisville, Kentucky, and attended public schools in Greenville, South Carolina, before moving to Augusta, Georgia. He later explored a professional career in music and acting. After relocating to Los Angeles, California, he secured roles in various TV series.
Although new to the daytime soap opera scene, he has an impressive filmography, with numerous film appearances since 2001 and TV roles since 2000.
Outside of acting, Robinson thrives as a recording artist. He was featured in T.I.’s 2010 music video for “Got Your Back” alongside Keri Hilson. Keith D. Robinson’s acting credits include Saints & Sinners, A Million Little Things, Bump, and more.
Making its debut in February on the CBS daytime programming block, Robinson makes history as the first recast for the series. Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and centers on the lives of the prestigious Dupree family and more. Since its debut, the show has been a strong ratings driver and a hit for the CBS network.
