James Houghton, best known for his work on daytime and primetime, has died at the age of 75. Although Houghton died of peritoneal mesothelioma on August 27, 2024, his death was not announced until today.

Born November 7, 1948, in Los Angeles, California, he began his acting career with appearances in television shows. Houghton was an original cast member of the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, where he played Greg Foster from 1973 to 1976.

Houghton’s impressive career also includes him playing the role of Kenny Ward during seasons one through four of Knots Landing, 1979–1983.

He later returned to the show in 1991, this time as a writer, and had an Emmy award-winning tenure with the show. After Y&R, he also wrote episodes for The Bold and the Beautiful.
