Jen Jacob (Ashley, Beyond the Gates) just shared a very sweet and touching moment. Andre (Sean Freeman) wanted to give Ashley something special, and when she told him her dream destination was Paris, he listened. Unfortunately, he couldn’t take her there, so he brought Paris to her.
When actress Jacob stepped onto the Beyond the Gates set in their version of “Paris,” she brought more than just her lines and camera-ready smile — she brought a piece of her heart. Literally.
A Necklace from Grandma
Just days before shooting the sweet and romantic scene, Jen had returned home from helping her grandparents move into assisted living. It was a bittersweet visit, but one moment stood out.
Her grandmother, the kind of woman who wears her heart (and apparently her jewelry) on her sleeve, handed Jen a necklace she’d worn every day of Jen’s childhood.
Jen didn’t want to take it. She kept telling Grandma that she wanted her to keep it until she couldn’t wear it anymore. But Grandma had other plans: She’d “rather be alive to see me enjoy it” (Cue the tears.)
So when it came time to film in fake Paris, Jen decided to make it extra meaningful. That scene? The one with Ashley and Andre being all glowy and gorgeous in Paris? It was dedicated to her grandma, who, by the way, “watches Beyond the Gates religiously” and proudly claims she’s “Team Ashley.” (She won’t spill which boy she’s rooting for.)
Plus, that stunning necklace Ashley wore in the scene, that’s the necklace — and head of wardrobe, Jeresa Featherstone, gave the okay for Jacob to wear it.
