Ironically, just as her Beyond the Gates alter ego Ashley Morgan was in for a surprise, actress Jen Jacob was planning one of her own for Father’s Day weekend. The series regular made the trip from Atlanta to Philadelphia to surprise her dad—and she didn’t come alone. Her adorable dog Graham tagged along for the emotional journey, and the video she shared will absolutely melt your heart (and maybe make you start planning for next year).
In the caption, Jacob shared,
“My sister lost her 7-year battle to cancer on Father’s Day weekend in 2007. At her funeral, I remember my dad saying that being able to do one final act for his daughter—laying her to rest—was a gift he would never wish for… but was grateful for nonetheless.”

She went on to add:
“In the 18 years since, my family has always been together on this day. Even through the COVID years, we found a way to be together.”
Naturally, being a series regular on a hit daytime drama, Jacob wasn’t sure her schedule would allow for the trip—but thanks to executive producer Julie Carruthers, she got the green light.
Recalling the big moment, Jen Jacob said, “The surprise on my dad’s face was priceless.” And in a heartfelt closing message, she wrote:
“To all who celebrate, Happy Father’s Day. And to anyone who is hurting today, I’m sending you the biggest hug and love. Loss in any form you’re experiencing it… is heartbreaking. Being with the people we love while they’re here is what this life is all about.”
