The PCPD is officially growing its ranks! This month, a familiar face to both daytime and Hallmark fans is stepping into a badge and uniform. Jonathan Bennett, whose casting was teased weeks ago, is officially making his debut as Joe Fitzpatrick on Monday, May 18, according to the latest issue of TV Guide.

While many fans know him as Aaron Samuels from Mean Girls or as a mainstay on the Hallmark Channel and Food Network, Jonathan Bennett is no stranger to the world of daytime drama. Early in his career, he played the pivotal role of JR Chandler on All My Children—a character famously portrayed later by Jacob Young (who, in a small-world twist, also played GH’s Lucky Spencer).

“Returning to daytime television was not on my bingo card for 2026,” Bennett admitted to TV Guide. However, the role of Joe Fitzpatrick was too good to pass up. “I feel like I hit the jackpot when this opportunity came because the character is something that I really wanted to play.”

Transitioning back to the lightning-fast pace of a soap opera set after 25 years is no small feat, but Bennett says he was more than ready for the challenge. While the PCPD is currently drowning in drama—between the hunt for a shooter and car accident investigations—Officer Fitzpatrick is arriving just in time to get his hands dirty.

Bennett teased that fans should prepare for some surprises, saying, “I’m feeling excited, and I’m also laughing because I can’t wait for the world to see what Joe Fitzpatrick is really all about.”

That definitely sounds like there is more to this new PCPD officer than meets the eye.

Be sure to catch Jonathan Bennett’s General Hospital debut on May 18.
