It’s official—Jonathan Jackson is saying goodbye (again) to General Hospital next week, almost one year after returning to the iconic role of Lucky Spencer, according to a report from TV Insider.

Lucky Proposes to Elizabeth

On screen, Lucky gave it his all—dropping to one knee and proposing to Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). But in true soap fashion, the answer was no. What was her reason? As much as she cares for him, her heart—her work—and her life—everything she loves and knows are rooted in Port Charles. However, Lucky—well, he’s more of a regular traveller these days, and Port Charles was never meant to be a permanent stop for him.

Is Jonathan Jackson aka Lucky Leaving General Hospital?

Jackson, who first stepped into the role back in 1993 as the son of daytime legends Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis), made his return in August 2024. Fans were thrilled to see him back—and so was the GH team.

“We were so glad Jonathan was able to reprise the role of Lucky, even if it was for a limited time,” says General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini in a statement to TV Insider. “We wish him nothing but the best, and the door is always open for Jonathan to return.”
