Performer of the Week
Josh Kelly, who plays Cody Bell on General Hospital, hit it out of the park this week. Cody’s desperation to free Sasha (Sofia Mattson) from Gladys’ (Bonnie Burroughs) clutches led to him convincing Sam (Kelly Monaco) to take a medical proxy over him and get him committed to Ferncliff where Sasha is being held. To do this he had to act crazy and boy, did he!
Cody took himself to a dark place to convince the doctor at Ferncliff that he should be admitted, and Kelly’s portrayal has us wondering how much was actually an act on Cody’s part. His over-the-top antics after he was admitted were intense and riveting to watch and the care he showed Sasha when he found her was beyond touching. When he held out his hand and asked her to trust him, Kelly showed that Cody meant it with everything in him. And his relief when she agreed caused us all to expel a breath we didn’t even realize we were holding. And then the evil Dr. Montague (Darin Toonder) walked in on them.
Cody’s known something wasn’t right with what was happening with Sasha for a while but the pieces didn’t fall into place until he recognized her doctor from Selina Wu’s (Lydia Look) poker game and realized that he was in cahoots with Gladys to keep Sasha under her guardianship so Gladys had control of her money. Cody’s anger on Sasha’s behalf was justified and righteous and we cheered when he overpowered the doctor and made his escape with Sasha.
There are still many beats left to play in this story and even more to come when Cody finally admits that Mac (John J York) is his biological father and Josh Kelly has fans of General Hospital looking forward to every minute of it. Kelly was simply phenomenal this week and that is why we have named him our Performer of the Week. Congratulations Josh!
Days of Our Lives
A funeral was held for Victor. Vivan Alamain made a shocking and dramatic return. Sarah went into labor right after the funeral. Wendy and Tripp had a special romantic night at the Salem Inn. EJ tried to get Xander to kill Ava, but he turned him down. He then hired Joyce to do the job. Harris and Ava escaped from Bayview and went on the run. Chloe and Nicole had a tense exchange. Theresa caught Alex’s eyes and invited him out on dinner after being turned down by Brady. Chelsea Brady made a visit to Victor’s funeral. The identity of the mystery man was finally revealed.
General Hospital
After being arrested, Sonny was questioned. Cody made some progress helping Sasha and finally put two and two together about the connection between Gladys and Dr. Montague. Brook Lynn enjoyed her first night living with Chase. Gregory prepared to tell about his ALS. Alexis quashed things as Molly and Kristina clashed. Felicia advised Mac. Sam came clean with Dante. Nina worried about Sonny and turned to Carly for help. Dante accused Michael of turning Sonny in, then apologized. Trina confided in Josslyn. Dex, Carly, and Michael wondered if Josslyn was the one to turn Sonny in. TJ and Molly got ready for their surrogate move.
The Bold and the Beautiful
RJ and Ridge argued about Eric. Sheila scared the hell out of Steffy by visiting the beach house. Steffy demanded that Sheila leave. Finn laid down the law with Sheila and fought for Steffy. Carter and Ridge visited Deacon and questioned him; they also gave him a warning. After her dramatic encounter at the beach house, Sheila returned and told Deacon all about it. Steffy decided that she was taking the kids and leaving town. She visited Liam and told him. Wyatt and his brother talked about the development with Steffy. Liam told her that he loved her and supported her.
The Young and the Restless
Audra lied to Nikki’s face about ending things with Kyle. Nate caught her in said lie. Nikki summoned Kyle and threatened him. Victoria confronted her father about his business changes. Adam begged Sharon to help him. Billy lost his cool and was determined to protect his father’s legacy at all costs. Devon invited Mariah to make an unexpected move. Phyllis interfered in Daniel’s love life. Jack made Kyle a huge offer.
Honorary Mentions
This week was fantastic! The cast of Days of Our Lives gave amazing performances during Victor’s funeral scenes, delivering heartfelt speeches. Additionally, Drake Hogestyn (John) and Dick Van Dyke (Timothy) were outstanding as they portrayed their characters discovering that they were father and son. Meanwhile, Tamara Braun brought her A-game as Ava Vitali, and Jacqueline MacInnes gave a powerful emotional performance as Steffy on The Bold and the Beautiful before exiting the show on her maternity leave!
