Julie Dove, who had a major arc this year on Days of our Lives as spooky Connie Viniski, recently made an appearance on Maurice Benard’s wildly popular YouTube series, State of Mind. The episode was very intriguing—Dove, a Texas native, spilled the tea on everything from her early years to her soap opera shenanigans.
After Maurice’s usual intro, Dove spoke about her character as a killer on the Peacock soap opera! Shares some family-friendly tales about growing up in Princeton, Texas; she bravely recounted losing her dad at the tender age of 13. “My dad died when I was 13—kind of suddenly, and everybody knew him.” She added, “He had a heart attack, and it was pretty sudden, but I mean, he was definitely like a heavy drinker. I found out later in life he was an alcoholic, and he smoked a lot—so it was kind of lifestyle heart disease—but he had a heart attack and then died two weeks later. He was 38. I was 13—my sister was 15 and pregnant—my mom was 36, and that you know changed our lives forever.”

Later, Dove, who had two ventures into marriage during her twenties, shared, “I have been married twice in my 20s!” She painted a vivid picture of her heartbreak from the second marriage—something that took her years to get over. “It broke my heart; it took many, many years to get over it,” she lamented. But love isn’t totally off the table; she quipped, “My career has been my priority.”
She also touched on losing her mom, “My mom was sick for a long time with dementia. She had vascular dementia and when I say a long time it was like three or four years.”
