Broken at Love has become a very popular web series which is now in season 3, are there plans for more seasons? What does the future of the show look like?
Karolina: Many people don’t know that I ended up writing season 3 fully about four different times, so in many ways the season 3 story would probably be the season 4 story had I kept things as it was, I just couldn’t wait to tell it (and felt it made the most sense timing wise). One of the things about writing based on your own experiences is that you have to live a little to be inspired. And that’s what truly happened with Season 3. I moved to New York and inspiration for a different season began. I’m really happy with the story I chose to tell for Season 3. And I want to enjoy the process of releasing this season, entering it into festivals/award shows/screenings, doing these interviews, etc. I think Broken At Love happened to my life for a reason. It isn’t something I can easily let go. It is something I wear almost every hat for – writer, lead actress, director, producer, casting, editor – and it is a full commitment. But I love this show so much, and I hope this has truly just been the start of something greater.

As you know, we are a soap opera news entity and the show has cast several former daytime stars, do you have plans to cast more? Any particular ones of interest?
Karolina: I started watching soaps at a young age – my sister and I would tape Days of Our Lives (and later on Passions) to watch when we got home from school. Although I’ve never specifically sought out a soap star for the series, we have worked with several. And if I could cast anyone, I would love to work with actors from the shows I watched during that time.
With the success of Broken at Love, do you think you will look at creating other shows?
Karolina: Broken At Love was so specifically created as a passion project. A story I wanted to desperately tell. And the show has continued due to the need to tell certain stories. And my love for the characters, especially Vivie. It was also a way to introduce myself to a more mainstream setting. But through making this show, I have found such a love for storytelling in general and I would love to continue to tell other stories. This has really just been the launching pad for me as a writer. There probably won’t ever be another show I create quite as personal as Broken, but I know I’ve got a lot more in me.
Can you tell us more about your character in the show?
Karolina: I play Vivienne “Vivie” Taylor, an idealistic hopeless romantic type. College educated (the show begins during her senior year at a private LA university), an aspiring filmmaker/actress/writer/ journalist – she’s always seeking a good story, starting with the events of her own life. Close to her family. Has a close group of friends. She navigates life as the quintessential good girl. And in true good girl fashion, meets some bad boys that further grow her as a character. And in season 3 especially, continues to find her voice. And become more than her good girl persona.
What are the future plans for your character?
Karolina: In Season 3, Vivie is taking a big step in getting through heartbreak – making mistakes and growing as a person; she left her Los Angeles life behind for new beginnings in New York with her two closest college friends. Vivie, at times, mirrors my own life strongly. And if I could give Vivie anything in future episodes it would be her real love story. The story that all these other stories logically led to. Because I think the hopeless romantic type should get to stay a hopeless romantic even in a journey filled with heartbreak stories.
So, there you have it fans! Which former “Passions” star or ‘Days of Our Lives’ star would you like to see hired as a cast member of Broken at Love?
