Kim Brockington Talks Asunder the Series, Guiding Light, Her Desire to Work on B&B/HAHN and Much More!

Kim Brockington is a well-known actress and producer who has crossed the paths of daytime, primetime, films and online serials. Brockington first stepped into acting with her role as Elizabeth Bishop in the 1998 film “Crossfire”, she later continued with other movie roles and primetime appearances. To date she is best known to daytime viewers for her work as; Mrs. Woodrow on ‘One Life to Live’ and Felicia Boudreau on ‘Guiding Light’. She’s currently working on “Asunder the Series” in which she plays the role of Adele Chandler and is also listed as a producer. Soap Opera News caught up with her for an exclusive chat in which she discussed Asunder, her time on daytime, future projects and much more.

When asked about her character on Asunder, Brockington dished gushingly, “Adele is hot! And truly on fire. She loves her family first and will do whatever it takes to keep them on top and herself on top! She takes no stuff from no one. Because in the past she took a lot esp. from her husband but it made her only stronger. She is a really passionate woman about life, her family, and her lovers. Wealthy but with a heart still connected to the hood where she grew up and a fashionista that even the Kardashians would envy.
She does everything always with her family in mind first even if she has to resort to crime.” Brockington also took the time to note the similarities between her character and herself, “Similarities…my family is first and extremely important to me…pretty much all the above except I do draw the line when it comes to crime…Adele doesn’t!“

We then drifted into a conversation about her time on daytime television. She reflected on her time there and shared, “I loved being a part of Guiding Light for 7 years and One Life recurring for several months and All My children too for several months! I went to the Daytime Emmys several times, attended all kinds of Charity Events, and met wonderful people who are now lifetime friends. All while still doing Theater and other TV, and film for years. I miss being apart of a show like that ongoing filled with great loving actors who had my back
and we shared so much fun.” Brockington also noted how she kept in touch with her co-stars since the cancellation. “ Yes still have friends who are like family: Yvonna Wright (ex-Dr. Mel) my beautiful, talented daughter from GL Gavin Houston (ex-Remy) my handsome talented first son GL now on Have and Have Nots (as Jeffrey Harrington), Lawrence St. Victor (ex-Remy) my 2nd son on GL now on Bold and Beautiful (as Carter) and Karla Mosley (ex-Christina), and of course Lamman Rucker from my sister soap As the World Turns now on Green Leaf (as Jacob). Truly lifetime friends! We still talk hang out and are there to support each other!“

Brockington then shared her desire to work on one of our favorite primetime shows, The Haves and the Have Nots where she would reunite with her former GL co-star. “I would love to be on the Have and the Have Nots,” she shared as we asked about returning to the soapy genre, she continued by sharing “as Gavin’s aunt opposite Angela (Veronica) who plays his mother who I know very well I think we would kill it! The Bold and the Beautiful as somebody causing trouble and for sure Green Leaf as that other sister of Lynn Whitfield’s and Oprah’s that no one has discussed …YET! I love that show. Classic and so good. I did Love Songs with Lynn Whitfield and would love to work with her again.” She also dished on how she would love if One Life to Live was revived. “I hope One Life Comes back sounds great.Especially since it will employ people in NYC,” she shared.

She was also quick to discuss her projects on the horizon. “Just did a play Ferguson as a DA Diane Whirley and Zora Neale Hurston a One Woman Show for Harlem Stage and in Elgin Illinois for the Elgin Community and even a Shelter for women for Black History Month. Some recent TV work was The Path on Hulu and The Drowning as Judge Evelyn Rene now on Netflix. Several readings of new Projects coming up in March and even directing a reading of a new play in March. Also, some other things on the horizon can’t talk about yet. But soon.“
