Beyond the Gates actor Lami is celebrating a huge win in his acting career. The actor, who fans may recognize from All American and Sistas before stepping into daytime, has officially made it into the opening credits of the CBS drama.
On top of that, he has moved from recurring to contract status, which is a big deal.
Taking to Instagram to celebrate, Lami, who plays Izaiah Hawthorne, shared his excitement. “WHOOAAA I’M IN THE OPENING CREDITS.”
He made it clear just how much this moment means to him. “This is a dream come true man, I’d never imagine in a million years that I’d join the main cast of a hit daytime tv show, a show that’s breaking barriers and milestones, a show that’s on a major network and airs every damn day.”
Reflecting on the Journey
Looking back, Lami admitted this was not always the plan. “Since childhood I thought my future was playing drums, or writing music, and when I picked up acting I had no idea where it would take me… it was cool to find somethin new that I wasn’t good at and work real hard to improve, but a major character on a brand new soap? Insane.”
Even getting the audition felt like a win to him. And he gave a special shoutout to someone who has been there every step of the way. “Of course @niatheactress helped me with the self-tape just like she helps me in every aspect of life, pushing me and inspiring me… y’all haven’t seen nothin yet… baby we gon take over the industry.”
For those who may not know, Nia Renee is his real-life wife.
Gratitude All Around
Lami also showed love to his family and everyone who supported him along the way. He spoke about their journey and how much it means to him to make them proud.
He made sure to thank the team behind Beyond the Gates as well, along with the people who helped him grow as an actor and believed in him from the start.
And he did not forget his fans either. “One of my favorite parts of all this is the support of the fans, y’all are truly the best, thank y’all for inviting me into ur world.”
What’s Next?
Going by the name David Lami Friebe at the time, he made his debut in October 2025 as Izaiah Hawthorne, the son of Elon and Darlene and brother to Jacob and Luke. He is also the love interest of Eva Thomas.
Now that he is officially part of the main cast, the possibilities for his character are wide open.
As Lami puts it, this is just the beginning.
So what do you think? Are you excited to see more of him on Beyond the Gates, and what kind of storylines would you like to see next?
