Soap Opera News caught up with former soap star, Lauren B. Martin for fun chat in which she discussed her time on daytime soap operas, her role on Asunder the Series and much more. As many daytime fans know Martin played the roles of; Jenkins on ‘Another World’, Camille Bennett on ‘As the World Turns’, Susan on ‘All My Children’ and Nurse Sheryl on ‘Guiding Light’. Her list of acting credits also include roles on a number of primetime serials.
Martin discussed her role on Asunder by sharing, “Serena Haines antagonist extraordinaire!! She is so much fun to play. I am really excited to reveal the layers of her history and how that history …those decisions …and reactions shape her destiny.” As to what Serena’s future on the show looks like, Martin highlighted, “Serena’s future, she wants it all, and why not.I hope to continue to inject some humor into her and some “no she didn’t!” moments.I believe she will have a cheering squad at some point … a relatable, and slightly misunderstood gal.Wink wink.“
We then drifted to her daytime career. She revealed that “being a part of History, in the culture of daytime has been an honor,” she continued by saying, “the subject matters that have been tackled, some firsts in television. Friends that our history and work ethic are at the very core of who I continue to strive to be.Many lessons learned on those sound stages …Another World, ATWT. GL, and AMC.”

Martin has kept in touch with some of her former co-stars and she revealed, “there are so many old friends I would love the chance to work with again and Talent I am truly inspired by and would love to meet. Behind the camera, in front or in the writer’s room. Maybe a musical with Martha Byrne and Kevin Mambo!!” She then spoke of AMC which she worked on. “The dedication to AMC, the cast, and crew that have stayed so faithful to this journey in the many different locations of the past couple of years. I would love to see that family thriving. Actors and crew working, is always what I want,” she shared.
Of her future work, Martin reveals that she’s “looking forward to all that is coming with “Asunder ” for Serena and production keeping me busy behind the scenes this season. My dearest Dorell Anthony, and family and all the is next for “Pride: The Series”. Currently pitching “Reality sets in” the series I created and co-wrote with my partner Scott Brooks and executive producer Taso Moutheros. Starring Oliver Vaquer of “Andi Mack ” and Jane the Virgin. Angela Rambourg ” Blue Bloods ” Christian Barber who is literally in everything right now, and of course the indomitable ILENE KRISTEN. We are excited to have 5 episodes completed. Just reunited on a secret project with my dear friend Timothy Gibbs, I am thrilled to be involved with all who are attached. Look forward to letting the cat out of the bag when we can. Directing a documentary on Aleta St James internationally acclaimed healer and life coach, putting one pant leg on at a time, and trying to match my socks! New York Hustle, grateful and excited for all that 2018 brings.”
