We are loving this wrongful death lawsuit storyline on Days of Our Lives for more reasons than one—and one in particular is that it has put Linsey Godfrey and her talent front and center again.

Her portrayal of Sarah Horton facing one of her absolute worst nightmares this week earned her our Performer of the Week honors for September 28–October 2, 2026.

Because so much went down, let’s dive right into the drama unfolding in Salem, USA.

EJ DiMera Framing Sarah Horton

First, Sarah was hit with total horror upon learning that Destiny’s parents are suing her for wrongful death. Deep down, Sarah knows she did nothing wrong, and she realizes this whole mess points right back to EJ DiMera. Because EJ knows she has been digging into the Coriseal situation, he is pulling out every dirty trick to tear her down. Ultimately, he wants to make her wish she never went up against him.

To that end, EJ and Rita are working behind the scenes to manipulate records. They are using Melinda to make Sarah’s life miserable as part of an ongoing payback scheme.

That takes us to the scenes this week where Melinda Trask—who had been MIA for quite some time—returned to hold a public press conference. She publicly accused Sarah of medical malpractice and negligence regarding the death of a patient named Destiny.

A Heartbreaking Moment in Salem

Because the entire town was watching the broadcast, poor Sarah now faces a massive uphill battle to save her reputation. Shortly after breaking down in tears at the pub, she found comfort when her ex, Xander Kiriakis, stepped up to offer a shoulder to cry on.

When Sarah cried, “Because all anyone will see when I walk into a room, or when I pick Victoria up from preschool, is that I—they’re just going to see that I am the woman that killed Destiny Rowland,” it completely shattered our hearts.

Linsey Godfrey Delivers an Emmy-Worthy Performance

Linsey Godfrey is a true gift to this genre. She proves that every single time the show gives her emotional scenes to sink her teeth into. She makes full use of every second on screen. Godfrey is wildly talented, and the fans certainly see it.

Clearly, the Daytime Emmy judges see it too—she has racked up 7 nominations since her soap debut back in 2012. She is even nominated this year for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

While we eagerly wait to see if she takes home the statue on October 30, she is definitely taking home our title of Performer of the Week for that gut-wrenching performance as Sarah Horton on Days of Our Lives.

What did you think of Linsey Godfrey’s emotional scenes this week? Was she your performer of the week? Let us know in the comments!
