Soap star Lynn Herring is celebrating her 65th birthday today.



Sheryl Lynn Herring was born on September 22, 1958, in Enid, Oklahoma, to parents who were from Louisiana. Before acting, Herring was Miss Virginia USA 1977 and was 4th runner-up to Kimberly Tomes for the title of Miss USA 1977. She earned a B.A. in psychology from Louisiana State University, where she was also a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.


Herring has become famous for her contributions to daytime soap operas. Specifically, since 1986, she has portrayed the character of Lucy Coe on General Hospital. Additionally, she has appeared as Lucy on Port Charles, Audrey Coleman on As the World Turns, and Lisanne Gardner on Days of Our Lives. For her role on GH, she has received multiple Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.



Herring married actor Wayne Northrop (who played Dr. Alex North/Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives, Rex Stanton on Port Charles and Michael Culhane on Dynasty) in Jennings, Louisiana on May 9, 1981. They have two sons. Northrop and Herring own and run a working cattle ranch in the Madera County area of Raymond.
