Maria Howell has joined the cast of Beyond the Gates in the role of Tracy, someone from Anita’s past. Howell is slated to make her debut next week on the CBS daytime drama.
Viewers may recognize the name Tracy, as Anita previously referenced her music group, The Articulettes, which included herself, Sharon, and Tracy. With Vernon (Clifton Davis) encouraging Anita to have a reunion with the girls, look for Anita to reach out to them.
About Maria Howell
Howell began her career as the choir soloist in the Oscar Nominated “The Color Purple”, and has since appeared in hit TV shows on Lifetime and NBC. You may recognize her for her role on Devious Maids or Amy Wives. Howell also had guest starring credits on Criminal Minds and The Resident.
A remarkable song stylist, Maria has graced the musical stage alongside legendary artists such as Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Ray Charles, and Earl Klugh.
After a highly successful six-year stint in Asia, Maria made her return to the U.S., where she wowed the audience at Sambuca Jazz Café for an impressive nine consecutive years—from 2002 until its closing in December 2010.
As a talented VoiceOver artist, Maria lends her voice to numerous TV and radio commercials, animation projects, video games, and audiobook narrations.
Beyond her achievements as an actor and singer, she is also a passionate supporter and Advisory Board Member of several charities, including Students Without Mothers, The James M. Dixon Foundation, Tosco Music, and Ava’s Heart. Maria hails from Gastonia, North Carolina.
