On September 24th, Paula Benard, wife of Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, General Hospital), celebrated her birthday, blissfully unaware that her husband had a surprise in store. So, how did Maurice manage to get his wife bursting out some joyful tears? Well, at a fancy restaurant in Beverly Hills, California, Paula walks in rocking a sash that declared, “Aged to Perfection.” But upon arriving in, she saw some familiar faces she hadn’t seen in a while.
With an Instagram video soundtracked to Frank Sinatra’s “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” Maurice gushed, “I gotta tell you, I really wanted my wife to be surprised because to me, that is the ultimate that means there are people there that she probably hasn’t seen in a long time. I am really happy that I was able to bring that kind of joy to her. it was a great night with great family and friends and good food HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAULA.”
The gathering was quite the star-studded event, featuring her children, Anna Damergis (who hosts the Maurice & Anna show alongside Maurice Benard), Vanessa Marcil (Brenda, General Hospital) and more.
Benard tied the knot with Paula on August 11, 1990—more than three decades ago. They have four children; three daughters, and one son. They also adopted his wife’s younger sister Heather after their mother’s death. Don’t forget to check out the video clip below for all the fun.
