Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman, The Young and the Restless) recently did a Q&A on Instagram. In the session, she answered a selected few questions that fans had. One of those questions was about the reason for adopting. Ordway married Justin Gaston in 2012, the year before she joined Y&R. The couple welcomed their first child, Olivia Christine Gaston via adoption in April 2016. Their second child, Sophie Jolie was born on December 9, 2017
During the Q&A, Ordway noted, “I had always thought about adopting and it’s something that has always been in my heart. And then when Justin and I met, it was something that we talked about and we really prayed about it. As soon as we made the decision to adopt every door opened and it was totally what we were supposed to do. I feel like God just made Olivia in someone else’s tummy. She was always meant to be our daughter. She was always meant to be in our family. We love her more than anything. It was the best decision ever. Olivia and Sophie are 19 months apart. Sophie was a really awesome surprise. We weren’t expecting it but it was the best surprise.“
Another question asked was if she and her husband are planning to have any more children and she said, “We are so thankful for our little family and our two beautiful daughters. They are keeping us very busy, so I’m going to go with no but I guess never say never.“
