Melody Thomas Scott has graced the screen as the renowned Nikki Newman on The Young and the Restless for forty-six years. Soap fans know Nikki inside and out, from the beginning, starting in her pole days through today and every day in between. We know Nikki Newman. But for fans (like us) who might not know Ms. Scott as well, the Soapy podcast, where she guest stars, is for you.
What an informative and entertaining chat Scott had with hosts Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart. There are fun facts everywhere in this one.
And the name drops! They just kept on dropping! The famous Scott, a household name in her own right, who has worked with some of the best to ever do it in daytime, has worked with some pretty famous people outside of daytime, too.
- Alfred Hitchcock
- Clint Eastwood
- John Wayne
And the story about her, Eastwood, and a needle is a must-hear.
We also learned that Scott, who has won contestants and charities alike, a lot of money on some of television’s most popular game shows, is a “puzzler” herself. Sudoku, Wordle, and the New York Times Mini Crossword are all a part of her morning routine.

Scott also talked about her memoir Always Young and Restless. My Life On and Off America’s #1 Daytime Drama. She touched on how it took her years until she was able to pen it and open up about some of the most intimate, painful, and difficult parts of her childhood and life.
