Michael Muhney (ex-Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless) just dropped some amazing career news—he’s now a school teacher! In his post on Thanksgiving, on X, he shared, “Life has its twists and turns. These days I’m a school teacher. I teach Theatre I, II, III. I love my students and believe in them with all my heart. I’m in a happy place and I’m thankful for life & my family. Happy Thanksgiving.”

He later added, “Friends. Family. A wife. 3 kids. 2 cats. 3 chickens. 122 students. Lots to be thankful for.”

Of course, no one can forget Muhney’s iconic stint as Adam Newman on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless from 2009 to 2014. After playing the role, the baton was passed on to Justin Hartley and then to Mark Grossman.

Muhney was born in Chicago and raised in Texas. Growing up in Euless, Texas, Muhney won the state championship for his One-Act play performance at Trinity High School when he was just 16—impressive, right? He then went back to Chicago, where he earned a bachelor’s degree from The Theatre School at DePaul University in 1997. Since graduating from DePaul University Theatre School, Michael has been working full time in TV and film and has been nominated for a Lead Actor Emmy.

Will Michael Muhney Return to Acting?

For all the fans eagerly waiting for his return to the screens, Muhney noted, “Sharon and several other cast have remained close with me. I hear about the goings-ons. Who knows? One day in the far off distant future I’ll return? But for now I have students who need me!” Since leaving Y&R, Muhney has had roles in series such as Truth Be Told and The Good Doctor.
