Soap star Michelle Stafford is celebrating her 59th birthday today.

Stafford was born on September 14, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents moved her and her older sis, Janine, to Montrose, California, where she grew up. After finishing high school, Stafford went after her dream of modeling.

In the early 1990s, she got into acting. She got a part in the Fox soap opera called Tribes in 1990. Even after the show didn’t last long, Stafford kept chasing more acting opportunities. In October 1994, she made her debut as Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless. Her role was only supposed to be temporary, but her amazing work kept her on the show for an extended period.

Stafford also played played dual roles on Y&R, portraying Sheila Carter from December 2006 to February 2007. She also played Nina Reeves on General Hospital. In 2016, Stafford launched a skincare product line called Skin Nation. The products are said to be organic, natural, gluten-free, and certified cruelty-free by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
