Neill Fearnley has died at the age of 71. The sad news was shared by the official When Calls the Heart Instagram page. “It’s with a sad heart we say goodbye to our friend and consummate director, Neill Fearnley, who passed away on July 13 after a long battle with ALS. Neill was there for the first season of When Calls the Heart, directing episodes across the first 10 seasons and helped us create our story-telling world. He was a gift to Hope Valley and a gift to humanity. His generous heart and brilliant mind will be deeply missed.”

Fearnley is a successful television director and producer, has left a remarkable legacy in the entertainment industry. With his masterful direction, he significantly contributed to popular shows like “The X-Files,” “Supernatural,” and “Highlander: The Series.”

His talent extended to thirty-two movies, over two hundred and fifty hours of episodic television, and numerous pilots. Additionally, he made substantial contributions as a producer, directing multiple commercials and hundreds of hours of live television.

Born in England, Neill pursued his passion for film and television, ultimately graduating with a degree in Film and Television from Toronto Metropolitan University after attending Liverpool’s Wallasey College of Art. He began his career as a director and producer at a Vancouver television station.

Neill Fearnley’s invaluable impact will be deeply missed, and his influential work will continue to resonate in the world of entertainment. We send our love and condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
