A new Soapy podcast is on the way—yep, you read that right. And get this: it’ll be hosted by real-life pals and daytime soap veterans Rebecca Budig (Taylor Hayes, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark, Days of Our Lives).
According to Deadline, Soapy is “an audio and video podcast that promises to dive deep into the legacy, fandom, and enduring appeal” of the soap opera genre. The series kicks off July 8, with new episodes dropping weekly through September 30.
A whole lineup of soap stars is already set to appear, including Maurice Benard (General Hospital), Tracey Bregman (The Young and the Restless), Marc Cherry (creator and writer of Desperate Housewives), Scott Clifton (B&B), Eva LaRue (GH), Christian LeBlanc (Y&R), Cameron Mathison (GH), Karla Mosley (Beyond the Gates), Lawrence Saint-Victor (B&B), Melody Thomas Scott (Y&R), Heather Tom (B&B), and Tamara Tunie (Beyond the Gates).
The podcast premieres July 8 with none other than Eric Braeden, who plays Victor Newman on Y&R. The July 15 installment will feature Deidre Hall (aka Marlena Evans), followed by Beyond the Gates executive producer Sheila Ducksworth on July 22, and The Young and the Restless star Lauralee Bell (Christine) on July 29.
