The cast of Days of Our Lives gave an outstanding performance as the iconic character Doug Williams passed away, especially veteran Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams), who left us and countless viewers an absolute emotional wreck after today’s episode. Even though we knew it was coming, nothing could prepare us for the emotional punch it delivered.
The episode featured thrilling performances from the cast and marked the beginning of a tribute to Days legend Bill Hayes, who passed away earlier this year. In a poignant moment, Jack informs Julie that he tried to wake Doug, but he did not wake up. Naturally, Julie struggled to come to terms with what Jack was saying, but as the reality of losing the man she has loved for decades sank in, Julie broke—and so did we.

Later, in a heartbreaking scene, Eli escorts Julie to the room where Doug was and steps aside to give her a moment alone with him—a moment that had us reaching for tissues every couple of seconds as Julie opened her heart about her love for Doug and how she couldn’t imagine life without him. You could hear the heartbreak in her voice as she uttered the words, “I will love you… forever.”
It is essential to acknowledge the extraordinary talent exhibited by Susan Seaforth Hayes in portraying such heart-wrenching scenes, particularly considering her real-life marriage to Bill Hayes, which lasted from 1974 until his passing in 2024. Kudos to Susan for her incredible performance; this wasn’t merely acting—it was a masterclass. Congratulations on being named Performer of the Week!
