Eric Martsolf delivered a killer performance this week as Brady Black on Days of Our Lives, and has been chosen as Soap Opera News’ Performer of the Week for December 1–5. So let’s dive into what made his work so powerful.
What Happened on Days of Our Lives?
Brady spent the week trying to process the chaos unraveling in his life. Learning that Rachel (Alice Halsey) not only tried to kill Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) but was also the one who shot EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was already a crushing blow.
But being a parent meant facing the unthinkable, and this week Brady had to make one of the hardest decisions of his life: committing his daughter to Bayview, a facility for the mentally ill.
Another standout moment came when Brady learned another shocking tidbit. Once Brady learned that Marlena (Deidre Hall) had known for months that Rachel shot EJ—and that Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) covered for her—his world tilted even further.
His fury was surprising but deeply understandable. In the heat of the moment, he even told Marlena he didn’t want her involved in his daughter’s care anymore. Tough, raw stuff, but outstanding work.
Then came the Bayview scene… that was the gut punch of the week. Watching Brady check Rachel into the facility nearly broke him, and us.
Rachel pleaded, begged, and sobbed for her father not to leave her there. Still, Brady had to walk away. That moment with Brady on one side of the door, and Rachel screaming on the other, was unforgettable.
Watching Brady collapse into tears, we were reminded why Eric Martsolf remains one of daytime’s finest actors.
Even in silence, he made us feel everything: Brady’s pain, his heartbreak, his torment, his love. It all poured straight through the screen. Man… what a performance.
Congratulations to Eric Martsolf on being named Performer of the Week. Absolutely deserved.
